Genndy played his cards in an interview about Hotel Transylvania (which you all KNOW you are gonna go see, because it's gonna be amazing). As usual, the interviewer asked him about Samurai Jack. If you've ever seen an interview with Genndy after Jack came out, everyone asks about it, so interviews are pretty good markers to determine his current opinion. This is the transcript collider.com/genndy-tartakovsk…
this is what goes down: Will there ever be a Samurai Jack animated feature or live-action movie?TARTAKOVSKY: It's still around. Every year, somebody new picks it up who tries to push it through. I feel like, with Jack, it's a funny curse. People like it for A, B and C, but as soon as they want to make it, they say, "Well, we can't do A, B and C." But, those are the key ingredients that make it successful. Once somebody comes along and just says, "I want to make it for what it is," then it will get made. But right now, every time we try to run it up the flagpole, it never sticks.
...So, there you have it, guys. Disheartening, no doubt. It's good to know that he thinks it still has the potential to be made...but....ugh.
Maybe when all of us tiny fanartists and fandom peeps grow up we'll be the ones doing it. I kinda wanna know what A B and C are, too! Maybe -certain ending-, -technique/style-, -characterization- ??? Since Hollywood is pretty prone to 3D and live action, shitty predictable films, and whitewashing/REALLY not staying true to the source material (the dbz and atla movies, for instance).
And I've just kinda not updated deviantart about this but i knew for several days >>;; ffs
but yeah we should totally just do this
if not i might make it myself out of frustration 9__6
