I've gotten several notes and comments recently (like three personal notes in the last week and i cant even tell you how many comments in the last month), and it's probably because for every ten Brick/Blossom pictures in the Powerpuff tag, there are like, two Aku/Blossom ones, and I guess the colormatchers are confused as to why anyone would ever want to support something that isn't ppg/rrb, SO...I guess that, as the founder of the group and the person that got this shit stirring, it's time to come clean. The Manifesto is outdated but I'm lazy and probably not going to finish redoing it.

I'm going to admit that I like them because I think they're very alike--I'm not kidding--and because I think they would have a fascinating dynamic, should a meeting between them ever go beyond the typical 'battle for townsville'.

They have similar interests. Blossom plays guitar, Aku makes club music (also in PTE his dance is headbanging). Both of them love to read. Both of them are vain and take time with their appearance. Both of them like playing dress up (LOL). Their favorite educational subjects are probably history or language studies.

Both have been referred to as being 'brilliant' in their own respective universes.

They're both [canonically] very effective leaders (Blossom bosses her sisters, Aku governs most of the universe), and although they're both very controlling and arrogant, neither of them are afraid of overstepping their boundaries and siding with their enemies if needed.

...Touching on this, in most PPG/Jack fics, they usually have interesting chemistry, with Blossom being the main protagonist and Aku being the main antagonist, regardless of whether or not this is intentional. It seems like the stories they share revolve around them and how they feel about each other, even if they're not exactly friends.

They have the same stupid, dorky sense of humor (...well, they do when Aku is cracking a joke outside of the sadist spectrum and more along the lines of just being plain cheesy) (although blossom can be pretty mean too, jfc the way she picks on her sisters like OMFG what cutting remarks)

A lot of people dismiss the pairing because 'Aku is ugly' [which is a stupid reason because he's kawaii as hell] but Blossom herself has said that, if she ever ended up liking someone, she would prefer someone intelligent over someone cute. It would be impossibly difficult to match Aku's intellect because of his photographic memory and intuitive aptitude, but if anyone could do it, Blossom could for the same reasons. Maybe Aku may be able to help her out with her chinese in return :XD:

Blossom is extremely attentive to intelligent adult figures in her life, those who give her the most approval, going so far as to break the law to please them; Aku pretty much refuses to interact 'normally' with anyone but children or persons who have proven worthy of his time, so they fall within each others' social "comfort zones", if you will.

There is a theory (and ample proof) that Chemical X is somehow derived from Aku, being that whatever makes up his body can be used to give stuff life, most things that Chemical X touches become evil, the Puffs and Aku have basically the same powers, etc so something might even spark out of that, should it ever be mentioned.

...Let's go ahead and admit that they share the same universe anyway, as shown in Samurai Jack where Jack stumbles upon a ruined Townsville, although what happened to it is never explained. Even better, Blossom has Samurai Jack and Aku dolls in the comics.

...and I have this thought a lot but can you even imagine how awesome a one-on-one fight between them would be???? im dYINGl,d,dfghytrrfhtjy it would be so COOL omg ok. had to get that out of my system.

Anyway.

There is a thin line between good and evil, and both Aku and Blossom have basically taken dumps on this line. Blossom has shown signs of having a very sadistic side to her personality; Aku has shown the capacity for kindness, etc

In fact, the only actual, major difference between Aku and Blossom is how they both dealt with humans treating them differently:

Blossom decided to protect humans, so that they wouldn't treat her like a monster and at least pretend to show her affection and love. Aku decided that he was strong enough to kill things that wanted to kill him, and chose to subdue mankind when it wanted to subdue him. Blossom had a guiding light and a voice of reason to keep her and her sisters from doing what Aku did: Professor Utonium. Aku had no such morality chain and never really gained one. Imagine if Utonium had died in the blast that created the girls. Imagine if Aku had an emotional link to the rest of the world that would have kept him from practically exterminating the human race.

Both Aku and Blossom have very fragile systems of belief, existence, and purpose because of this, and if either of them got the chance, they could very significantly change each other. That's what I find to be the most interesting thing about them.

When dealing with characters who have already had canonical interaction with each other, that history becomes part of them. Brick and Blossom are the most bitter enemies in the entire show; that can't just be undone! But Aku and Blossom have never met; so what would happen between them is up to opinion, and not fact. To be honest, I love occasionally portraying them as enemies because even then, they'd be freaking amazing together (apart???).

Their relationship is not set in stone; so one must look to the characters themselves and determine what might happen if they did meet. They're not in love, but they don't hate each other. Or maybe they are in love and hate each other. That's cool too. My personal favorite dynamic is when they're super best friends forever, because they have so much in common, but their personal morals interfere with anything going further, so they kind of ignore how the other half lives and like to chill out together and then blossom gets older and then ~UST~ and then there is so much glorious angst and :eager: ok i'll stop fangirling i promise

Ugh, I feel like I'm just talking in circles and not making any sense, as usual. All I'm saying is, the more I look at Aku and Blossom, the more things I see between them that are the same, and it's really creepy, but kind of amazing. Plus they have this weird aesthetic when they're drawn together. And it's totally a tragedy that a PPG and Jack crossover never actually happened .-. I just like them ok??? I like them both as characters and I like them both interacting. So yeah. Whatever. There you go. o__o

...I'm already making a giant list of things that are the same between Aku and Him because, if Aku and Blossom are the best friends that never happened, then Aku and Him are long lost twins. im so done with logical thought omg

Aku isn't Blossom's age................................................ Don't even tell me "when she's older" I seen shippings more of her as a child with him more than fan art of him and an older version of her
